It’s time to change the conversation about Pakistan.
Tanqeed is an experiment in critical reflection. It is a quarterly e-zine that publishes long form journalism and essays that analyze contemporary Pakistan and South Asia. We think, we write, we report and we analyze the stories that the mainstream media won’t cover.
We publish special issues along with single-standing essays, reporting and multimedia work published in-between each issue.
We aim for critical analyses that dissect a range of issues without falling into a narrative of hopelessness. And we are developing a conversation that is multi-lingual: Tanqeed’s issues are published in English and Urdu. You can check out the first 10 here.
From observations on politics, culture and media to video, audio and multimedia, TQ takes account of a country that has hitherto been overtaken by its representations.
Our writers include: Mohammed Hanif, Saadia Toor, Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, Preeti Chopra, Ammar Ali Jan, William J. Glover, Jakob Steiner, Abira Ashfaq, Aasim Sajjad Akhtar, Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch, Matthew Green, Ziyad Faisal, Malik Siraj Akbar, Sunaina Maira, Magid Shihade, Majed Akhtar, Daanish Mustafa, Badar Alam and Taymiya R. Zaman.
